A Queensland DNA testing lab has paused testing on forensic samples.
Queensland Police has requested the pause due to concerns they could lose crucial evidence that helps them solve crimes into the future.
Police want to wait until there is more information available to them about how to proceed forward.
The decision could mean longer waits to solve crimes, which police flagged as a serious concern at the inquiry today.
”I would be disappointed if that was months,” Stephen Foxover from Queensland Police said.
“It would have an effect on us for our results.”
The final report into the lab is due at the end of the year.
